We completed the Great Urban Race!

Hi, Everyone,

As some of you know, Susie and I participated in the Great Urban Race in Seattle last Saturday. For those of you not familiar with the race, it is a 1 day race through the streets of Seattle, similar to the Amazing race on tv. It was so much FUN! We had 12 clues and had to complete 11 challenges in 5 hours. We could only walk/run or use public transportation to get where we needed to go. We could use lap tops and cell phones to call people for help.

In one challenge, we had to find sign language interpreters at a park on Capitol Hill. Each teammate had to sign a question to one of the interpreters. You had to figure out on your own how to sign the question. Thanks to a friend of Susie's we where able to complete the challenge. In another challenge, we had to make our way to the Comedy Underground for charades. One team member had to get up on stage and act out the words while the other team member guessed the answer. Guess which one of us got up on stage? That's right, Susie. We were part of a human pyramid, took a picture with a street musician and lots more. The clues took us from the Space Needle to Capitol Hill to Pikes Place Market to Qwest field.

We completed the challenge in 4 hours and can't wait to do it again next year. Here are a couple of picture from our fun experience.

Store Closure: Sat., 8/29 for Great Urban Race

Susie and I will be competing in the Great Urban Race in Seattle on Saturday, August 29, so the store will be closed. We will re-open on Monday at 12 pm though.

Susie & I will be in the Great Urban Race - Seattle

If you've ever seen the Amazing Race on TV, you know how much fun it is to watch. Couples of varying relationships (domestic partners, mother-daughter, father-son, spouses, brother-sister, etc.) are tasked with making their way around the world, stopping at various destinations, completing certain tasks and doing it with very little money.

There is now something similar on the city level...the Great Urban Race. Seattle will be hosting the Great Urban Race on Saturday, August 29 and my daughter Susie and I will be participating. We'll be blogging and tweeting along the way, so stay tuned for our fun adventures. We can't wait!
